The ICRCM was formed from the need to promote a better understanding of Operational Reliability and how it must be approached if we ever hope to master it on a global scale. We have established the Core Business Principles surrounding Operational Reliability and how they must be implemented and sustained, to reach and maintain World Class Performance Levels. The Quality of individuals currently attempting to implement RCM varies widely and many Consultancies and Managersdo not fully understand what is needed, and are struggling and ultimately failing to achieve sustainable and positive results. This is largely due to the lack of cohesive training in Change Management, Risk Management and Criticality Analysis methods. Assumptions are made about RCM that are not correct based on incomplete understandings and training. Now that we have a Global Risk Based Asset Management Standard in ISO 55000 we need to evolve the old RCM2 and so-called RCM3 to fit seamlessly within that structure and create a synergistic relationship between RCM programs and ISO 55000. This requires iRCM or Industrial Reliability Centered Management.. The Council maintains the necessary training and examination standards to assure that Certified Professionals are fully educated and qualified to manage and also implement Reliability Centered Programs in accordance with existing SAE standards and in accordance with newly established standards designed to seamlessly integrate RCM into ISO 55000. Our Certified Professionals are qualified to lead from within an organization and understand the scope and impact that higher Operational Reliability and Availability can have on an organization'sbottom line. You may wonder why we do not just say Reliability Centered Maintenance. Well, that is because the word “Maintenance”, is far too limited to cover the true scope of what is necessary to achieve Operational Reliability within Organizations who must Maintain and Operate multiple critical manufacturing Assets and Processes. While Maintenance is certainly a large part of Asset Reliability, it actually does little to affect the other critical functionsrequired by World Class Asset Management. Current levels of organizational support cannot assure that other important departments are contributing to overall Operational Reliability. Departments, such as Procurement, Operations and Production, can have a major effect on Equipment and or Asset Reliability... Quality Manufacturing requires many departments working together to assure Product Quality and consistency. Defect Elimination is the key to achieving high quality! Reliability is simply the Quality of your internal manufacturing equipment and processes. From the standpoint of a physical phenomena, Quality and Reliability are actually identical in nature and both rely on Defect Elimination to thrive.
